Dental Emergencies
When you are experiencing pain or have a mouth injury, it’s important to seek care quickly. Some examples of dental emergencies are:
- Cracked or broken teeth
- A tooth that has been knocked out
- Lost filling or crown
- Severe pain (which can be a sign of an abscess)
Don’t ignore injuries to your teeth or gums; there may be damage to nerves or blood vessels, or you could develop an infection that spreads to other parts of the head and neck.
If you have had a tooth knocked out, it’s important to take care of the tooth while you are on your way to see us. First, see if you can put the tooth back in the socket — biting down on a wet tea bag can help. If that doesn’t work, carefully rinse it off and keep it in a container of milk.
If it hurts, it’s an emergency. Call us right away if you are experiencing pain or have damage. There is a good chance we can work you into our schedule the same day.
